SPIER WINE FARM

More of a lifestyle center than a tasting room, the spacious, light-filled Spier features long wooden tables and beautifully curated shelves with everything you need to taste and enjoy wine at home, including a selection of books, kitchenware, and, of course, the delicious bottles.

Groups of friends, multi-generational families enjoying a day out in wine country, and guests from the Spier Hotel, which is a short stroll from the tasting center.

With a range from affordable to special-occasion wines, Spier offers tastings that can be tailored to suit anyone’s budget and tastes. Look out for the Spier 21 Gables range (named after the farm’s 21 painstakingly restored Cape Dutch gables) and Spier Creative Block wines, made from varietals from specific vineyard blocks in the style of an artist’s collage. A chocolate-and-wine tasting is a unique and delicious diversion, and pairs the likes of white cardamom and passion fruit chocolate with Creative Block 2, a blend of Sauvignon blanc and Semillon.
